The Womxn's Initiative for Leadership Development (WILD) Conference is this weekend!

By: Gabby Wahla, W*SS Graduate Assistant

The 2020 Womxn's Initiative for Leadership Development (WILD) Conference is just FOUR days away! This year is certainly unlike years past, and we in WSS are so proud of the accomplishments of the WILD Planning Committee. Despite being remote, we have been so lucky to have a group of students put together an amazing completely virtual conference. We are so excited to hear from our four amazing keynote speakers (pictured below), our student keynote, Sharron Reed-Davis, and all of our amazing presenters. In light of the upcoming election, the WILD Planning Committee chose the theme USE YOUR VOICE: Engage, Enact, Empower. Using this theme, we hope to use the WILD Conference as a call to use your voice to vote (if you can), advocate, and share your beliefs. Engage We seek to engage students on campus through educational and interactive workshops that emphasize the importance of speaking out against injustice. At the 2020 WILD Conference, we hope to mobilize womxn Spartans by facilitating productive discussion on the current campus/societal climate and brainstorming ways to connect with each other and conduct change.

Enact We believe this conference and the workshops will cause students to enact change and advocate for gender/racial equity in all aspects of their lives. Whether it is through increasing student voter turnout, rallying, or community outreach, we hope to give students the resources and knowledge to network with each other and take a stand for what they believe in.

Empower We aim to empower womxn Spartans by helping them discover and expand upon their individual and collective strengths so they can continue to be vocal and passionate about social change. We sincerely hope you plan on joining us for the WILD Conference this Saturday, 10/24/20, at 12:00noon EST. If you have not already, please register for the conference at the button below.
