End of the 2020-2021 Academic Year

By: Gabby Wahla, Graduate Assistant

As the 2020-2021 academic year comes to a close for us Spartans, we in Women*s Student Services want to take a moment to reflect, celebrate, and invite you to evaluate your experiences with our office.

We in Women*s Student Services have enjoyed getting to engage with you all through our various programs, newsletters, or social media. Having this community has been something that the staff of W*SS is so thankful for, especially during a global pandemic. Whether you participated in our office’s Crafternoons and Communitea, WILD Wednesdays, Office Hours, the Unconditional Love Fund 5K, Women’s History Month, or just followed along in our Zine newsletter and social media, we want to hear from you about your experiences. Our W*SS End of Year Survey is live now, and is completely anonymous. Any form of feedback, positive or negative, is welcome because we want to serve YOU! One lucky respondent to the survey will be randomly selected to receive a $50 Amazon gift card for participating. The survey will close on May 9th, 2021, and the Amazon gift card winners will be notified on May 10, 2021. Link to End of Year Survey With the end of the semester also comes saying goodbye to some members of our W*SS staff. Whether they are graduating, moving on to a new role, or sticking around, we are so thankful for the staff members we have had this semester: Ashleigh Lowe, Gigi Shannon, Dani James, Joslyn Miller, Grace Sacoman, Kirstin Pianalto, Karlee Moxley, Heather Shea, and Gabby Wahla (me). Each member of this team has shown dedication to serving the MSU community in terms of gender equity programs and services, and Heather and I are so grateful for all the hard work they have put in this semester.

Back in Summer 2019, Heather and I were hired just before the start of the academic school year. We built this office from the ground up, creating new programs and services, cultivating new relationships with the MSU community, and created something I am genuinely proud of. As my graduation grows near, so does my last day as the Women*s Student Services Graduate Assistant. I am so happy I have had the opportunity to work with the W*SS community over the past two academic years. I have grown as a professional, student, and as a person. I want to thank each and every one of you for your participation in W*SS, even if it was just in these Zine newsletters.

Thank you all again for your support and engagement with Women*s Student Services. We hope you take a moment to participate in our End of Year Survey. Additionally, this summer we will be having some programs and services available to the community, so stay tuned. Have a great end of your Spring 2021 semester, and W*SS hopes to see you soon!
